(Česky) Henrik Ibsen: Nora / Národní divadlo Brno Reduta
What happened when Torvald Helmer’s wife left him.
Nora and Torvald Helmer are preparing for a miracle: After years of hardship Fortune smiles on them. They feel a well-deserved satisfaction. Christmas is coming…
Ibsen’s drama was staged for the first time in Czech by the theatre company of Pavel Švanda of Semčice in the Provisional Theatre in Brno in 1887 under the name Christmas. Since then, it has been the source of many different interpretations as the view of the status of women changed in marriage, family, society. However, the story about a fatal misunderstanding between a man and a woman living in a common household without having noticed that they live in different worlds has lost none of its original audacity. It is still able to strike unexpectedly like a bolt of lightning the audience waiting together with the protagonists for the miracle of the fulfilment of family happiness, love and mutual understanding.
We intend the first staging in the Reduta Theatre to be an intimate, but intense concert of two leading actors, Eva Novotná and Petr Halberstadt, under the distinctive directorial baton of Rastislav Ballek.
