Eva Karczag & Bettina Neuhaus: ALONG THE LINES
In the lecture/performance ‘Along the Lines’, Eva Karczag and Bettina Neuhaus invite the audience to an interactive encounter: they share personal narratives of key moments, encounters and experiences that shaped their individual histories and were decisive in directing the trajectory of their artistic journeys. In doing so, they create a multidirectional spatial map of the branching constellations and reveal the multidimensional nature of their paths. These took place in the historical context of post-Judsonian dance and reflect the individual methodologies of both artists, which became the core of their practice through the continuous involvement of various somatic techniques and approaches.
The photographs, books, recordings and objects placed in the space flesh out different points in the timeline of their past – each a key to a particular memory or story. Karczag and Neuhaus reveal the network of intersections that enabled the flow of inspiration and knowledge between places, people and times. Before and after the lecture, the audience can explore the installation in their own time. More to be found at https://www.alongthelines. net/.
